Our very own Ms. Leena Jain deserves a special mention. She is passionate about women’s causes and proved it by leading the Eco Chula donation drive.
Being an avid biker, she rode for the Smokeless Eco Chula cause to promote women’s healthcare and over 100 employees supported her in this endeavor by donating Rs. 1250/- from their salaries so that women in remote areas do not have to suffer the smoke and toxic pollutants while cooking.
Our very own Mr. Paras Pathak deserves a special mention for being a young changemaker. Growing up without many libraries around, he was passionate about inculcating a reading habit among kids. He steered this noble thought into action by participating with the CSR team in setting up a reading room for children at Vikhroli, Parksite. The reading room is a quiet space where the kids can come and learn, explore, and create for free. Paras even volunteered for the first two months to ensure that the Reading room ran smoothly.
To ensure there is no dearth of books at the reading room: We ran a book donation drive in office where we collected over 150 educational books from about 60 good hearted employees. Paras also started a website where anybody can send in old/unused books and they will get their courier amount refunded.
If you wish to donate old/unused books, kindly log on to www.cornertable.in and encourage children of the slums to read and learn
Our very own Mr. Balasaheb Lahu Kekan deserves a special mention for being a young changemaker. His personal struggle of leaving his village for odd jobs in the city and finally getting an opportunity to work with Omkar Developers led him to pay it forward. Upon realizing that Omkar Foundation provides courses for skill development along with a scholarship; Balasaheb got 38 of his childhood friends who were unemployed and unskilled from his village in Ahmednagar district.
He also housed a few of them at his place for a while. They were enrolled into ICICI foundation, Maruti Driving School, Nidan Technology and Kohinoor Technical Institute. They have completed their training and some of them also got employed with a starting salary of Rs. 8,000/-
Mr.Balasaheb truly believes that “Buy a man a fish, feed him for a day, Teach a man to fish, feed him for life”. We salute him for his true resolve to improve the lives of others and develop the community as a whole.
